Day 1 of 1 Rainbow Mountain: Trek to Vinicunca
Very early pickup from the hotel in Cusco to begin the journey to the Cusipata area. A stop is made along the way for a tourist breakfast. The trek to Vinicunca, known as Rainbow Mountain, crosses high Andean landscapes, grazing areas, local communities, and views of the Ausangate glacier. The hike is done at a moderate pace given the altitude. Upon reaching the main viewpoint, there is time to rest, take photographs, and enjoy the landscape. Then the return trek begins, lunch is taken en route, and the group returns to Cusco in the afternoon.
